Inspiring story about Spilling Oil:

This inspirational story is derived from Alchemist written by Paulo Coelho. This story talks about how to balance your life between success and happiness. Secret of Life is not about picking one instead of another but having both in your life and knowing how to balance.

Moral Story on Secret to Happiness

This secret to happiness story tries to demonstrate the happiness quotes mentioned in this post. One merchant sent his son to understand the secret of happiness from the wisest man on the planet. The saint wandered in the desert for 40 days and ended up living in a gorgeous castle, on the top of the mountain.

After meeting the holy man, he saw a hive of activity happening in the castle: tradesmen were wandering here and there, men and women had been conversing with each other, a tiny orchestra was playing soft music, and there was a table covered with platters with the most delicious meals. Many people are waiting to talk to the saint. Guruji was talking to every person one after another. The boy had to wait for two hours to get his turn to talk to the saint.

Guruji listened attentively to the boy’s explanation of why he had come. After hearing him, Guruji told that he has usual chores to be completed. He recommended that the boy go and visit the palace and return in two hours.

Meanwhile, I would like to ask you to do one more thing during your tour,” mentioned the smart man, handing the boy a teaspoon that held two drops of oil. “As you roam around, carry this spoon with you but make sure that oil does not spill.”

The boy started climbing and descending lot of stairways in the palace, maintaining his eyes fixed on the spoon. Within half an hour he came back to the saint.

Guruji asked that person, “Did you see the beautiful paintings which are hanging in the dining hall? Did you see the flower garden that it took the gardener ten years to make?. Did you notice the decorations on elephants standing near the front gate?

The boy was embarrassed and confessed that he did not observe anything as he was concentrating only on the oil.

Guruji asked that person to take another round around the palace and check out what he just said about the palace.

The boy picked up the spoon with oil and went on to explore the castle, this time observing all the performs of art around the ceilings along with the walls. He saw the gardens, decoration of elephants and all things which happen around him, the beauty of the flowers, perfection in paintings, etc. Upon returning, he explained everything in detail to the guruji.
Guruji asked the boy how much oil is left in the spoon. The boy checked out the spoon he held, the boy saw that the oil was gone.

Guruji told the young man that “The secret to happiness is to see the marvels of the world without neglecting the drops of oil in the spoon.”
